Anders Gustafsson, OLY
Anders Gustafsson is an Olympic high-performance leader, coach, and sailor with three decades of experience competing and leading at the highest level of sport. Currently serving as High Performance Director for Sail Canada, Anders has built his career around a central belief: sport has the power to inspire people, strengthen communities, and unite nations through shared excellence.
As an athlete, Anders was a World Champion, European Champion, and 4-time Olympian, previously holding the world best time in the Kayak Singles  500m. His experience across seven Olympic Games, four as an athlete and three in leadership, provides a unique perspective on building sustainable high-performance systems and world-class teams.
As Head Coach and General Manager for Canoe Kayak Canada, he led programs delivering four Olympic and one Paralympic medal across the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 cycles. Beyond Olympic sport, Anders competed professionally in two America’s Cup campaigns for Artemis Racing and American Magic.
Anders is driven by a passion for solving complex performance challenges and building strong cultures. His leadership style combines high standards with collaboration, innovation, and athlete-centered development, helping teams reach levels they previously thought impossible.
Today, he focuses on strengthening Canada’s Olympic sailing pathway. He believes investing in sport is an investment in people, developing resilience, leadership, and health for future generations.
His mission is to go beyond podium performances to build a culture of excellence that leaves a lasting legacy for Canadian sport.
